HashDeal Brief #1
Welcome to HashDeal Brief — a short, no-BS weekly scan of home Bitcoin mining deals.
Solo mining is lottery mining. Most devices will not earn predictable BTC. The goal here is to help you buy hardware intelligently: fair prices, legit sellers, realistic specs, and fewer expensive mistakes.
Best deal to investigate this week
NerdQaxe++ / Bitaxe bundle deals
Why it’s interesting:
• Gives materially more hashrate than a single Bitaxe Gamma.
• Still home-friendly compared with industrial ASICs.
• Bundles can be a good value if the seller isn’t padding the price.
What to check before buying:
• Is it actually in stock or just a preorder?
• Does the bundle include power supplies?
• What is the warranty period?
• Is the listed hashrate stock or overclocked?
• What is the real noise level?
Watchlist
BM1373-based miners
The BM1373 chip looks like the next interesting jump for home/solo mining, with early seller/community claims around ~2.5 TH/s per chip and ~10 J/TH.
The caution: most BM1373 home miners are still preorder/reservation territory. Don’t pay full retail unless you trust the seller, delivery window, warranty, and refund policy.
Quick picks to compare
• Bitaxe Gamma — cheapest/lowest-power entry; best for learning and lottery fun.
• Bitaxe Supra Hex — better hashrate, still compact.
• NerdQaxe++ — higher hashrate desktop miner; more serious but still home-scale.
• Avalon Nano 3S — polished consumer-style unit; check price vs raw hashrate.
• Nexus S1 / BM1373 units — promising specs, but treat as preorder risk until shipping broadly.
Avoid this week
Avoid buying older BM1370/BM1368 units at inflated prices if the seller is pricing them like next-gen BM1373 hardware. Older miners can still be great — just only at the right discount.
Tip of the week
Solo mining difficulty does not change your chance of finding a block in the way most people think.
Your actual odds are driven by your hashrate versus the Bitcoin network hashrate. Pool/share difficulty mostly controls how often your miner submits shares to prove it is working. Too low can spam shares; too high can make your dashboard look quiet. It’s not a magic luck knob.
